Business Studies is taught to Years 8, 9 and 10 with the intention of sitting the GCSE Examination at the end of Year 10.

The course aims to familiarise the pupils with local, national and international aspects of business behaviour and organisation, utilising the numerous sources available including field research in the local community, the various media and the internet. It is also intended that pupils have regular contact with the real business world by means of visits to a number of different locations and business.

The course covers five main areas:
1. the types and organisation of different Businesses,
2. Human Resource Management,
3. Marketing,
4. Finance,
5. Production.

Pupils present a portfolio of work, and sit two examinations, including a practical case study. They are encouraged to develop their problem-solving skills and to use and understand the local community whenever possible. Information Technology is used as an integral part of the teaching and learning process.
