Learning 'English' is a continuous process of acquisition, development, revision and adjustment. The major aim of this department is to develop those abilities that the pupils possess and to build on them. English teaching is flexible and inter-disciplinary in its approach, being broken down into its main components:
Speaking and Listening.
Reading and Writing.
The whole concept of the English programme is firmly linked with the philosophy and detail of the Standing Orders and Syllabuses of the Common Entrance Board (Years 5-8) and National Curriculum Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11).
Pupils are prepared to sit GCSE's in English and English Literature at the end of Year 11.
