Westbourne takes part in inter-school competition in football, netball, hockey, athletics, swimming and tennis. Staff will organise and supervise attendance at other tournaments, such as, tag rugby and tennis at weekends.

We have good links with local sports clubs and we encourage pupils to take part in these clubs. We have pupils who play football, rugby, netball, hockey, cricket, athletics at various levels for these teams. We also have several pupils who represent the Vale of Glamorgan in county competitions.

Athletics
We enter teams in the County Cross-Country Championships and Athletics Championships across all the age groups.

Swimming
Pupils are encouraged to enter County Swimming trials. Senior college pupils will also be able to benefit from the introduction of Life Saving Classes.

Tennis
Classes are arranged for pupils from all age groups from Year 5-10. These take place at the local tennis club.

Hockey
We field both female and mixed teams in fixtures against other local schools. A hockey club operates on Tuesday lunchtimes for those pupils wishing to enhance their skills.

Netball
A girls team plays fixtures during the Spring term.

Rounders
A girls team plays fixtures during the Summer term.

Duke of Edinburgh
Duke of Edinburgh offers a wide range of outdoor pursuits including walking, camping etc. and is available to pupils who express an interest.

Other activities include fencing, weight training and fitness which are provided depending on numbers. In fencing some pupils progressed to training with the Welsh Development squad.

Charities Committee
Westbourne School is active in supporting charities, both local and all-Wales, for children and, from time-to-time, adults.

We support the education of a young boy in Peru called Johan, through monthly donations which have been raised by the staff and pupils throughout the year.

In the past we have supported Shelter Cymru, The Bobath Centre in Whitchurch (for children with Cerebral Palsy), die Noah's Ark Appeal, and Latch (raising money to build a support unit for the families of children undergoing treatment for cancer).

Most recently we held a charity auction which raised £3000, but we have also held sponsored bike rides, skipathons and spellathons. We also take part in national charity fund raisers such as, Red Nose Day, Jeans for Genes, McMillan Coffee Mornings and the Race for Life.
