The Sixth Form

Our aim at Westbourne School Sixth Form is to develop leaders of the future and equip them with the skills, capabilities and results they need in order to succeed in higher education, in the world of work and in life.

The International Baccalaureate

From September 2008, Westbourne School has offered the world renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) – the global ‘gold standard’ in secondary education – and the perfect vehicle for achieving our vision.

The IBDP is academically rigorous, relevant and forward-looking. The range of opportunity that it provides gives students the best possible chance of success in a fast moving world.  This means that students will be challenged, but the small class size and focused, one-on-one support from teachers will ensure the highest levels of achievement for all.

The Sixth Form experience at Westbourne School enables students to further their self-confidence, to learn to take initiative and to be proactive and self-determining. Ultimately, develop the social and cultural awareness and interpersonal skills to become future leaders in their chosen field. There are opportunities to make a significant difference to both the local area and the global community, and students will be busy both inside and outside the classroom.

It is our firm belief that your son or daughter will gain enormously from this broad, globally recognised and respected educational programme which will ensure they enter the wider world as successful, active and responsible leaders of the 21st century, able to access the most competitive universities within the UK and worldwide.

Students can choose from a wide range of options, allowing them to pursue their strengths. Subjects currently offered include:

In addition to these options, our international students are able to study their first language, and other languages are available upon request. Currently, we have students studying Cantonese, German, Italian, Polish and Turkish.
