Boarding House

A space to call home

The best people to tell you about our Boarding House are our students, a vibrant global community caring for one another all under the experienced eye of our lead Boarding House ‘mum’ Miss Janette.

Just two minutes walk from the Senior School & Sixth Form, the boarding house is conveniently located for a leisurely walk through the park to the beach, a stroll into the safe town of Penarth for a weekend coffee, or a quick ten minute trip on the train directly into the capital city of Cardiff.

As well as an active schedule of weekend activities and after school clubs, boarders (16+) also enjoy 24/7 access to a fully equipped fitness centre and open weekend/evening access to the basketball court. Many of our boarders also take full advantage of the numerous top level clubs in the local area, catering for most sporting interests, including football, rugby, hockey, netball, rowing and ice skating to name a few.

Daily Routine

Boarders enjoy a home cooked meal every evening, from a variety of cuisines, with care taken to cater for dietary requirements. Fruit, vegetables and healthy snacks are always on offer and students are also welcome to prepare their own simple meals and hot drinks.

After homework, activities are on offer, from the widely popular Varsity Challenge night, with teams competing for points across a range of activities, to jigsaws, board games, film nights and of course, the opportunity to take part in external clubs and visit the gym.

Our Boarding House parents also arrange popular excursions, more recent trips have included day trips to the University City of Oxford and birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford upon Avon.

The underlying ethos is one of shared community where students and staff work together to create a family-like atmosphere.

"The experience in the boarding house made me more open-minded because meeting people from different parts of the world with different cultures is very interesting. My life in the Boarding House is fun and it feels like a big family." Stefani, IB Student
