Another record-breaking year at Westbourne School.
Further to this weeks excellent GCSE results and the IB Diploma Results, The Daily Telegraph UK League Tables, published this morning, confirmed the School’s position as 1st in the UK for Results (smaller schools) for the 5th year in a row.
A huge congratulations once again to students who posted an exceptional set of IB Diploma grades across the board.
2019 results have also shown Westbourne to be the best independent school in the whole of Cardiff and the Vale, with an exceptional 71% results being A*-A.
A long term average of 90% Russell Group University entry for Westbourne Graduates, 2019 success stories include a host of talented students now embarking on their dream to study Medicine, as well as hard-won places at some of the world’s top universities, including Imperial, UCL and Montpellier.

An internationally recognised qualification, the International Baccalaureate Diploma supports entry into the world’s most elite universities. Designed for 16 – 18 year olds, with a Pre-IB year available, the IB Diploma enables breadth of study across six subjects, three at Higher Level to provide subject depth and three at Standard Level, providing breadth.
At the core of the IB Diploma, students study Theory of Knowledge (TOK) developing critical thinking skills, Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS), building teamwork and leadership skills and undertake an Extended Essay (EE) developing research and analytical skills.
The Diploma is marked out of 45 Points, in A Level terms the highest achievable score is equal to A*A*A*A*A*. 24 Points equates to a pass and 30 Points is the world-wide average. Westbourne maintains a long term 36 – 38 point average IB point score.
