Cardiff Castle IB Welcome Dinner 2021

Posted: 1st October 2021

Celebrating our new IB Diploma students

Last Friday afternoon, students from Year 11 through to IB2 were busy getting ready for one of the most important dates in the Westbourne calendar – the Cardiff Castle IB Welcome Dinner. After a year’s hiatus due to the pandemic, this year’s event was truly special, as students and staff once again made the most of the spectacular setting, surrounded by history and Welsh culture.

Following drinks in the Library set to wonderful music by a talented local harpist, the guests made their way to the grand Banqueting Hall, where they enjoyed a fascinating talk on the history of the castle and a Wales-themed three-course meal. A particular highlight of the evening was the Welcome Ceremony for our new IB1 students, led by Dr Griffiths, which took place as usual in the Clock Tower, with views across the Cardiff skyline.

We are so proud to hold this wonderful, unique event for students each year, which offers an opportunity to welcome new pupils as they join the school from all over the world, and to celebrate the Westbourne community and its outstanding achievements.
