We are delighted that Westbourne has been named a Finalist in the high-profile Cardiff Life Awards – in both the Education and the Technology & Innovation categories.
The awards celebrate the people and organisations who are making the biggest impact in the local community, leading the way in their respective fields. Congratulations to all the other finalists!
With an illustrious 125-year history of academic excellence, we are increasingly being recognised as an innovator in education, leading the way with a cutting-edge approach to learning. In 2021, we were added to the prestigious EdTech50 list, which acknowledges the organisations that are shaping UK education through innovation and technology.
We sought to use the pandemic as an opportunity to enhance the way pupils learn through revolutionising our use of technology to support online and blended learning, whilst retaining the personalised, one-to-one support for which Westbourne is known.
We successfully launched a fully integrated online learning platform during lockdown to support all pupils to excel, achieving the near-impossible feat of 100% live lesson coverage in a single week, and we were also one of the first schools in Wales to implement AI-assisted learning programmes. This technology continues to drive learning and academic excellence at Westbourne now that the school has reopened – it is technology that has become integral to the school’s make-up and the way we teach as we move into a new era of education post-pandemic.
