Exceptional University Preparation

Over recent weeks, we have published news of the outstanding university offers secured by our talented IB Diploma students, including a range of top Russell Group offers such as King’s College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University College London (UCL) and Imperial College London.

At Sixth Form, students work closely with our expert staff to research their future aspirations and refine their university choices, so that they can apply to their selected universities with confidence. We want our students to feel empowered to think deeply about their choices post-18.

Future focused approach

At IB level, students are engaged in the UCAS process early in their first year of Sixth Form study, so that they can map out key requirements, deadlines and preparation time as far in advance in possible, giving them a head-start over their peers at other schools.

UCAS 2023 is now open and IB1’s university journey is truly underway. Our aim at Westbourne is to ensure this process is straightforward, highly supported and ultimately successful for every student.

Interactive experiences

We stage a range of informative and engaging events throughout the year, including a virtual University Exhibition, our in-person Westbourne UCAS Day, plus an informative talk from David Hawkins of the The University Guys, all of which are designed to prompt students to think about specific courses and the right university choices to suit them.

Innovative careers platform

Access to the UniFrog platform offers our students 24/7 access to a wealth of excellent online career guidance, tips on writing a personal statement and ideas for super curricular activities.

The platform includes a searchable database of global universities, apprenticeships, placements, scholarships, summer schools, residentials and taster days, allowing Westbourne students to compare every undergraduate course in the UK and Ireland, Oxbridge colleges, leading US colleges, as well as courses in Canada, Australasia and the Middle East.

Tailor-made support

We build strong relationships with each of our students from the moment their Westbourne journey begins, to ensure we can support their unique talents, passions and needs. We offer regular individual career guidance and personalised meetings, followed by 1-2-1 advice in writing winning personal statements, fully backed by tailored teacher references.

Exceptional achievements

We are delighted that our IB2 students continue to receive a wide range of exceptional offers for many of the most prestigious Russell Group universities in the UK. Their studies will commence from September across a variety of degree courses.

A winning combination of personalised advice and mentoring at school, alongside 24/7 access to a specialist online careers and uni destinations portal, ensures that our students can make assured, informed decisions about their future pathways.

Over recent weeks, a number of our IB2 students have received all five of their Russell Group offers via UCAS – an outstanding achievement – including one of our Head Pupils, Abi, who plans to study International Business and Management at her first-choice university, the prestigious King’s College London.

A number of our students hope to head to leading universities in London for their university adventures. Anastasia has received an offer from the esteemed London School of Economics to study Maths and Economics, while another of our Head Pupils, Jakub, has received an offer from King’s College London to study Physics. Joining them is Nikita, who has secured an offer from Imperial College London, also to study Physics.

Marketa has received all five offers from Russell Group universities to study Psychology, and Ivan has also received all five offers from Russell Group universities and has accepted an offer to study Pharmacology.

Securing all five offers on UCAS, Thomas received his first offer within 24-hours of applying. Tom sat and passed the Aberystwyth University entrance exam, and was delighted to then receive an unconditional offer from them! This is his first choice of universities, and he is looking forward to September.
