Many congratulations to all our students on their fantastic achievements in the 2019 IB Diploma exams, the culmination of their hard work and commitment coupled with the expertise and dedication of their teachers.
Our students have excelled yet again, leaving us confident that Westbourne’s position as the No.1 School in the UK for results will be maintained for the 5th year in a row.
We have a multitude of success stories this year, Kristo, our departing Head Boy has achieved an outstanding 43 Points and graduates to study Medicine in his second language.
Mary-Kate, one of our local Penarth students has achieved an exceptional score which will enable her to graduate to study Medicine. Scarlett, an exceptionally talented mathematician achieved 41 Points, as has Gloria.
University places have now been confirmed at some of the world’s top universities including Maths at Imperial, Economics at UCL and Medicine at one of France’s most prestigious Medical research universities, Montpellier.
Students require 24 Points to be awarded a Diploma, 30 Points is the worldwide average, 45 Points is the maximum score, equivalent to A*A*A*A*A* at A Level.
“Beyond all expectations and no longer any limits for our students.
These results obviously leave me proud, but this year’s performances have opened the doors not only to the top of UK universities for budding scientists but even further. From September we can boast of our alumni being able to study IB in the UK and medicine anywhere they want.
This year has particularly shown that there are no universities our students cannot enter.”
Dr. Griffiths, Principal
We wish our leavers every success as they move on to university and look forward to welcoming them back to Westbourne in November for the Westbourne Graduation Ceremony.
