As we head into the new academic year we have lots of brand new developments happening in our Prep School and Senior School including extending our super-curriculum programme to include complimentary fitness sessions for our pupils from Reception to Year 8 on a Saturday morning.
The sessions are designed to encourage pupils to engage in fitness and healthy choices and will include a range of sessions taking place every saturday during term time.

To host our new fitness classes, we will be welcoming fully qualified fitness coach of over 15 years, Gareth Chamerlain to spark a passion for exercise in our pupils. As Cardiff’s only Premier Personal Trainer, Gareth has a wealth of knowledge surrounding strength and conditioning as well as nutrition and lifestyle tips.
Alongside some of the Westbourne community, Gareth will be able to provide tailored sessions for our different age groups, focusing on stamina, technique, strength and speed as well as sculpting a healthy mindset within our pupils.

In order to best tailor the sessions, they have been divided into specific age categories that are spread throughout Saturday mornings. The timings are as follows:
9 – 9.45 – Reception to Year 2
9.45 – 10.30 – Year 3 to Year 5
10.30 – 11.15 – Year 6 to Year 8
The sessions will run on Saturday mornings, starting from the 10th of September and will run every Saturday during term times.

Initiating a healthy relationship with fitness and exercise in children is beneficial not just for their physical health but also for their mental health too.
Regular physical activity in children develops cardiovascular fitness, strengthens bones and muscles, reduces anxiety and depression, helps control weight and also reduces the risk of health conditions at a later age.
Having the opportunity for such expert fitness guidance right here at Westbourne will allow our pupils to thrive both physically and mentally in their educational and personal lives.
If you are keen to sign your children up to this excellent complimentary fitness service on a Saturday, let us know over on our social media channels. There will be more information coming out at the start of term too!
