Year 10 and 11 students from our Senior School attended the SkillsCymru event at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff this week.
SkillsCymru is Cardiff’s largest skills and careers event for 15-24 year olds. The event showcases the varied career routes available to students after they leave school, offering the opportunity to meet with key employers and explore different career paths, complementing the leading career guidance provided at school.
Pupils were able to gather information on a range of careers by visiting stands, talking to the exhibitors, and taking part in interactive activities. Local and regional employers were on hand to share information, knowledge and first-hand experience of how they began their careers and what job roles are like across a range of competitive sectors.
Students also took part in hands-on activities aimed at getting students work ready and in the right mindset to think about their futures and the rewarding pathways they could explore.
At Westbourne, students study an award-winning IB Diploma curriculum in our IB Sixth Form. The immersive experience in individualised academic excellence attracts the best young minds from a broad local and international community, with a limited number of students per year awarded a place.
Supported by our intensive, tutorial-style teaching and nurturing atmosphere, our pupils achieve their academic and personal best, and are nurtured to aspire to the best academic and careers opportunities in the UK and globally. Throughout their time at Westbourne, students develop critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, ethical global citizenship and communication skills that set them apart, and are supported by first-class careers mentorship.
