After a jam-packed first week of exciting educational and social activities in and around Penarth and Cardiff, our Sydney exchange students ended their time in South Wales on a high, visiting Cardiff International White Water for an exhiliarating session paddle boarding, white water rafting and teambuilding.
They also took part in a nature trek across the mid-Wales hills – a chance to enjoy some fantastic scenery and experience Wales’ famous picture-perfect countryside for themselves.
The students’ second week focused on an intensive tour of some of the UK’s most prestigious universities, including the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, the University of Cambridge and University College London.
The exchange students really enjoyed the chance to meet Westbourne alumni at these institutions to gain a privileged insight into their individual experiences, their undergraduate studies, career ambitions and to get a better feel for the reality of life at a top UK university.
In addition to academic tours, the group enjoyed a spot of sightseeing! The students particularly loved the iconic London sights and cultural attractions – from Kensington Palace to Hyde Park, the London Underground, The Science Museum and The Victoria & Albert Museum, to name a few – as well as taking in the historic buildings and architecture of one of the most dynamic cities in the world.
With the students flying home today, we are confident that they go armed with an array of new experiences, stories and expertise to share with their families, fellow students and teachers. We are excited to see the evolution of our exchange programmes both with our sister school and other institutions globally, and we look forward to seeing our new friends again soon.
