With Chinese a part of the curriculum at Westbourne, Chinese New Year is a great opportunity for our students to come together and celebrate the start of another new year, this time, The Year of the Rat! Mrs Jane Shi, our Chinese language teacher, led celebrations in a traditional Chinese restaurant close to the school and boarding house.
After the press coverage on Newsround, Reception and Year 1 have recently become very worried about the people and animals of Australia suffering due to the fires.
Deciding that they wanted to do something to help, they have been busy designing posters, speaking in assembly and organising cake sales.
With lots of local support, there was an amazing assortment of goodies brought in last Friday and the pupils managed to raise over £130 which will go directly to support those in need at this time in Australia.
Well done Westbourne Prep!
Congratulations to Jess from IB1 for her recent win at the Welsh National Surf Lifesaving competition with Vale SLSC. She also won a bronze medal in the rope throw rescue!
It was Jess’s first competition and she had only been with the club for two months. She shared she is very happy she chose to take up a new hobby and is very pleased with the results!
It’s less than two months until our Charity Spring Ball and tickets are now on sale for friends and family of Westbourne School! Held at the beautiful Exchange Hotel in Cardiff, the chosen charity this year is Welsh Hearts the leading Welsh charity providing free heart screening and defibrillators in local communities across Wales.
For tickets and information, please take a peek at our Facebook event page. We are also looking for raffle and auction prizes, if you would like to donate, please contact Mrs Joanne Chinnock at the Prep School.
