Making learning fun from day one

Nurturing life skills such as creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, we are proud to deliver the National Foundation Learning curriculum at Little Westbourne, which spans four key objectives…

Firstly creating Ambitious, Capable Learners – preparing children to learn throughout their lives, secondly,  developing Healthy, Confident Individuals – ensuring children are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society. The third objective encourages Enterprising, Creative Contributors – preparing children to play a full part in life and work and finally and as importantly, we aim to support the development of Ethical, Informed Citizens – ensuring children are ready to become citizens of Wales and the world.

We also support the children to develop listening, reading, speaking and writing skills, encouraging them to communicate effectively and make sense of the world – all while having a lot of fun!

A child-centric approach that’s All About You!

Learning at Little Westbourne is primarily through play-based experiences, explored in topics throughout the year. Our nursery children benefit from tapping into an array of expertise from our qualified staff and specialist teachers, enjoying a range of stimulating activities and individual one-on-one sessions.

We actively encourage children to contribute with ideas for activities and events and the child’s voice very much centres in our Nursery planning. The development of self esteem and self confidence are at the heart of the nursery curriculum on offer at Little Westbourne.

‘Well resourced, homely and relaxed, with a lovely indoor and outdoor play area. A great mix of free play and adult-directed activities, which are well planned and varied, tapping into lots of key early skills. Get to know us

We appreciate that choosing a Nursery, or Pre School for your child is an enormous decision, so we welcome you to come and visit, talk to the team that provides the care and support to each and every child, then book in a free Taster Session, or two before making that important decision.

For many of our Nursery children, the first day of Nursery may be the only ‘first day’ they need experience.

A well-managed transition process supporting Stepping up to School, the year before pupils reach Primary School-age, our Little Westbourne Pre-Schoolers will be visiting our Prep School weekly, enjoying making new friends and becoming familiar with the next step in their education.

A specially-created “Stepping Up to School” financial package for our Nursery parents, designed to support them as their child transitions to Prep School, ensures that the initial introduction to an independent fee-paying school is gradual.
