Westbourne is located in Penarth, a historic seaside town on the outskirts of Cardiff, Wales’ vibrant capital city.

Known locally as “The Garden by the Sea”, Penarth was voted by The Times as one of the best places to live in 2021, and frequently tops national polls of the most desirable places to live and visit.

The close proximity of Penarth to the Wales Coastal Path and the spectacular South Wales coastline means that our students have easy access to exploring the outdoors. From Penarth’s Victorian Pier with magnificent views across the Bristol Channel, to country parks, beautiful green spaces, and a wealth of beaches on our doorstep, there is never a shortage of things to see and do.

The centre of Penarth is a lively hub with a range of local shops including independent boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, bookshops and a central library. The town also boasts a number of excellent sporting facilities such as tennis courts, a swimming pool, gym, yoga studios and mixed use sports courts.

Penarth Railway Station offers a direct line into the centre of Cardiff in 12 minutes, with its array of retail, leisure and cultural attractions including Cardiff Castle, the National Museum of Wales, and the world-famous Principality Stadium, the home of Welsh rugby.

Alternatively, the buzz of Cardiff Bay is only a short walk away, via Penarth Marina and the Cardiff Bay Barrage, with cycle paths and boat transport also available. Famed for its cutting-edge contemporary architecture, the Bay houses the world-famous Wales Millennium Centre, Wales’ centre for performing arts, as well as the Welsh Parliament headquarters known in Wales as the Senedd.
