Principal’s Welcome

Introducing Dr Griffiths

A passionate Welshman and Imperial College London alumnus, Dr Griffiths holds a PhD in Chemistry, is fluent in Welsh and French and has held senior teaching posts for the past two decades.

IB School of the Year, Westbourne Principal

Welcome to Westbourne

Great academic successes and fantastic examination grades are characteristic of all good schools; but the pride I have for my role at Westbourne lies in the foundations that have underpinned such achievements at this outstanding school.

I believe that ensuring children are loved and supported in an environment within a community working together, from both home and at school, provides them with the happiness they need for clear learning.

We have an open-door policy within the school, from Nursery to Senior School, where all pupils have a voice and are neither ignored nor left feeling anonymous. I have learnt that, along with engaging children, doing the same with parents is equally important, which is why parental involvement is strongly encouraged.

This approach has allowed me to implement progressive changes with the full support of the school community, as we continually look to both enhance and diversify the education of our children at every opportunity.

From Forest & Beach (FaB) school in the Prep School to a STEM and skills-based curriculum in the Middle Years – all of which supports the academic rigour of the GCSE and IB Diploma options for older children – our academic offering sits under the umbrella of a trusting pastoral system that ensures both the physical and mental wellbeing of our pupils is always at the forefront of our priorities.

This combination of togetherness and community has made academic success easy; but, more importantly, it has allowed my staff and I to build on enhancing our provision at every opportunity, and that’s what makes Westbourne one of the UK’s leading academic schools.

We look forward to welcoming you to explore Westbourne in person sometime soon.
